Putin’s spox: Kremlin sees situation at oil market predictable
MOSCOW, Mar 16 (PRIME) --The situation on the global oil market is predictable, the Kremlin is tracking the trends, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.
“Speaking of the energy market, the situation there is predictable. We are closely tracking the tendencies in this sphere,” he said.
Putin’s schedule does not include contacts with the Saudi Arabian authorities, though meetings or conversations might be held in case of emergency, he said.
He said there are no plans to contact the Saudi Arabian government any time soon. “No, we have no plans to do that now. Contacts are being coordinated very quickly now, that’s why they may emerge on the schedule if necessary,” he said.
Answering a question whether Putin had planned a meeting with representatives of Russian oil companies, he said, “No, it was not meant to be held. We didn’t plan it.”
Instability of the Russian financial markets was an obvious reaction to global fluctuations, including fluctuations due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, he said, adding that Moscow was keeping track of the global economy and of measures of foreign regulators.
“We are tracking the development of the world’s economic situation very closely, we are tracking the measures that regulators of the largest countries are taking…It is obvious that our mega-regulator is also keeping an eye on the situation,” he said.
